Welcome!

Your Dreams Can Be a Lot of Work!

Many of you may remember that about seven months ago, my wife and I and our children moved into our dream home. For literally two decades I drove by this house and said to myself, "I am going to buy that house someday!"

And someday came last October 6th when we moved in.

We have had all winter to get situated, yet in winter the grass doesn't grow and the flowers don't bloom -- all of which is happening right now.

And our dream home is taking A LOT of work!

We have over 50 Rhododendrons, a number of Magnolia trees, Japanese Maples, towering pine, fir, cedar, and maple trees, as well as Azaleas, Hydrangeas and nearly two acres of grass!

That takes a lot of time mowing, fertilizing, blowing, edging, etc! Lucky we have four kids!

Do we love our place? Sure. And so do most of the people who visit. Yet many of them would never want the work that this house needs to keep it up. Not tons of money, but lots of Saturdays in the yard.

And that is a little like any big dream. Lots of fun to enjoy when you achieve them, but lots of hard work to get there and when you get there as well.

So this week, dream big. But remember that chances are your dream is going to take a lot of work both to get there and when you get there! Thankfully, it is worth it when you do!

You Are Made for Success!

Thoughts on Successful People by Chris Widener

Some time ago, I was hired to do some training for a sales team from one of the largest companies in America. There were 16 people on this team. In one year their sales (for the 16 of them) will be 250 million - that's right, a quarter of a billion - dollars! Needless to say, it was an excellent and fascinating time. I decided to learn a little bit myself so I watched them closely to see what kind of people they were and to see what common denominators they shared. Below is what I found. I think you will find the elements applicable to your own life.

The first thing I noticed about this successful sales team was that they had a sense of humor! They simply weren't a terribly serious bunch of people. Instead, they saw that life was to be enjoyed and that means they were able to laugh a little bit. Sure, there were varying levels in this but they all had a sense of humor. They were able to laugh at circumstances, and they were able to laugh at themselves. It was quite refreshing and a core element of their success, I'm sure.

The second thing I found out about this group was that they did not achieve their success through pedigree, but through hard work. They didn't come from families that gave them a free pass into the upper echelon of the corporate world and they didn't get a head start from upper crust universities. What got them to where they are now? Hard work! That's right, another example that if you put your mind to it, work hard and get in the right situation, you can achieve great things! These folks work long hours and are disciplined in the work they do. And it is paying off.

The third thing I noticed about this team is that they are learners. They were always engaged in the learning process. During my sessions they were engaged and listening. You could see their minds processing the information. They were asking questions and applying the material to their work and their lives. They wanted to improve in any way that they could. It was also interesting to watch them in their team meetings led by their sales manager. They were very interactive and were learning from one another. None of them was above learning from a peer.

What did I see in these successful people? The same things that can make you a success as you apply the principles to your own life: A sense of humor, hard work, and a desire to learn at every turn.

This week have some fun, get in there and work hard while you keep an attitude of learning, and see what new success you can achieve!

2. Made for Success Quote and Commentary

"The tongue has the power of life and death." -- Proverbs

Chris' Commentary:
This may be one of the most powerful truths of the human existence. Pure, raw power. The tongue has a power, and it can create, with simple words, either life or death in another person. Speak words of praise or encouragement and the other person feels -- and lives -- life. Speak words of disdain or condemnation and the other person feels -- and again, lives -- death. What a privilege to be able to create in someone else the very nature of life! What an opportunity to leave behind us a wake of people feeling great about themselves!

Action Point: What would happen if everyone on this list -- that is people in 65 countries around the world -- were to commit to speaking life into people today? And not just if it happens, but purposefully? That is the action point: Purposefully speak life into as many people as you can today. Everyone you come across you can speak a bit of life into! Go for it!

I receive your weekly message consider one of the best ones!! God Bless your career!!
-- Humberto De La Rosa

Hello Chris, I just have to let you know how much I've enjoyed the first few ezines I've received from you. For quite some time I kept putting off getting into your ezine also since I'm already into so many others and don't have lots of time to read some of them anyway. However, yours was offered because of something I ordered from someone so I decided to go ahead and sign up for it and I could just unsubscribe myself if I didn't like it. Well, I LOVE IT!! Now you have to understand that I mean, I really love it. Because I have never written anybody else to this point whose ezines I'm receiving to tell them so. Thank you so much. I really do appreciate your uplifting ezines.

Chris: I thought I would take a moment and tell you about my day. I was very tired this morning and could not find the energy to do my usual routine. (I cheated on my diet last night and did not work out this morning.) As I was driving into work, initially I thought, "I don't feel like making 50 sales calls today" and "I feel depressed". But I listened to your cd and by the time I got to work, I was so excited for a chance to hit my goals that I couldn't wait to get started. And what a difference it made! I noticed that leaving messages with a little fun personality increased my return call ratio. And I had great conversations with the people that I did get a hold of. And it occurred to me, you should know that someone benefited by your willingness to share your knowledge. I really enjoy your cd. Thank You - Michelle (p.s. My day got even better. I made a sales appointment, received two orders and hit my goal of 48 calls and 6 mailouts!! Thanks again. -M

Thank you Ezine readers, for the sincere and kind words of encouragement and appreciation you sent us this week! -- CW
