With the month of June almost over, that means
summer is here and we are half way through the year -- so putting it
in sporting terms: It's Halftime!
In a sporting event, the players are given a break at the half in
order to refresh themselves, look at how they played in the first
half, and set strategy for the second half. So as you approach
halftime, here are some thoughts. Do you have a vacation planned in
the next two months that will give you the needed break and
refreshment? If not, schedule one this week! How did you "play" in
the first half of this year? Have you met your goals that you
established at the beginning of the year? Here are a few ideas to
evaluate where you are at with your goals as you approach the
halfway mark.
Take some time to sit down alone and review your goals. How many are
you on mark to make? How many have you not even begun on? How many
have you achieved?
For those you haven't even begun, my suggestion would be to reset
your goal at 10 percent of the original goal. Obviously this goal
hasn't been a priority, for whatever reason, and most likely won't
suddenly become so. But you can make some ground. Set a small
increase for the remaining six months and get ahead a little in
these areas.
For the goals you are on pace to achieve, try to stretch about 10
percent. So, to give it a numerical value, if your original goal was
10 and you have already reached 5 after halfway, stretch yourself to
try to achieve 11 by the end of the year. This will give you a good
reason to kick into high gear as the year progresses.
For those goals you are on pace to break strongly through, try an
increase of 50 percent.
And finally, for the goals you have already reached, try to set the
new goal at 100 percent of the original goal.
In all of these remember that it is better to try hard, and even
fail at a higher goal, than to take the easy route and attain
nothing at all!
Best of luck as you re-evaluate your goals!

1. Charting Your Course to Success Weekly Article
Life Rewards Action by Chris Widener
Thinking is good, yes it is. I strongly encourage thinking. In fact,
thinking plays a terrific role in success. It helps you strategize. It
helps you get motivated. It tunes you into success. I am all for
thinking and I do it regularly!
That being said, just thinking, no matter how good of a thinker you are,
will never catapult you to success. The difference between the thinker
who succeeds and the thinker who doesn't is that the thinker who
succeeds also ACTS!
Life does not reward thinking. Life rewards action. Let me clarify: Life
rewards thoughtful action.
Think first, by all means... But then ACT!
Do you want to gain wealth? The save your money - ACT!
Do you want to lose weight? Then hit the treadmill - ACT!
Do you want a new job? Then quit your current one - ACT!
Do you want to write a book? Then begin to write - ACT!
Do you want a new friend? Then introduce yourself - ACT!
Anything you want to accomplish will only be done by bold and decisive
action.
Wishing won't bring it about. Neither will dreaming. Nor will hoping.
Nor will just talking about it. Nope, you must ACT.
What is it you want from life? Tell me. Be specific. Be clear. Think
about it. Strategize. Roll it around inside that noggin of yours. Got
it? Good. Now what? What will you DO to turn that non-physical
electrical impulse we call a thought into a physical reality? There is
only one thing: ACTION.
Will you succeed? Will you achieve your dreams? Will you live the life
that you want? Only you can make that decision because only you can
decide whether or not you will act.
My friends, life rewards action. Your actions do not need to be perfect.
They just need to be. And then they get rewarded with success. With
achievement. Accomplishment. You have the power within you to lead YOUR
life as you see it. There is only one question you must answer for
yourself:
Will I act?
Because Life Rewards Action!

2. Made for Success Quote and Commentary
"The difference between whether you say, 'I wish I would have,' or 'I'm
glad I did,' at the end of your life is whether or not you take decisive
action during your life." -- Chris Widener
Chris' Commentary:
Our Made for Success Quote and Commentary is about action. That's why we
have an "Action Point" with each one -- to spur you on to action.
Thinking about something will do you no good if it isn't followed by
courageous, decisive action. If we pretended our Success Quote was a
business, it would be a "Do-tank," not a "Think-tank!" So what are you
putting off that is something you really want to try or that you will be
disappointed by if you don't do it by the end of your life? Then do it!
Action Point: Take two minutes and think of two things you absolutely
want to accomplish by the end of your life. Then think of one thing for
each that would be the first step in achieving that goal. Then do them
by the end of the day!

3. The Last Word...
I recently saw a report on what people are afraid of in life.
Obviously dying was near the top of the list. That is understandable.
Truth be told, I’m not in a hurry to take that trip myself, but I know
it is coming.
Want to know what I am even more afraid of than dying?
Here it is:
Not Really Living.
I am more afraid of not really living than I am of dying. So of course,
knowing me that made me wonder why that is? And I think it's for a
couple of reasons:
One, there is nothing you can do about the fact that you are going to
die someday. It is something we all have to accept.
Two, there is something you can do about how you live.
Jim Rohn, one of my mentors, says that everyone has to experience pain:
Either the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The very last pain
I want to experience in my life is the pain of regret. I don't want to
get to the end of my life and say, "I wish I would have…"
No, I want to REALLY live. How do you do that? Here are a few thoughts
on how to REALLY live:
1. Decide what you want to accomplish in life. Write down 100 things you
want to do, places you want to visit, etc.
2. Get used to the idea of taking risks. Nobody really lives unless they
take risks. Playing it safe will get you through life, but it won't let
you really live.
3. Laugh. The people I know who are most successful in life are people
who have a great sense of humor.
4. Do something crazy. Do something no one expects you to. Say something
no one expects you to say. Leave people astonished sometimes.
5. Live with integrity. That will keep you from crashing and burning
along the road. That's never fun.
6. Give more than you receive. Be a person that others see as a
generous, "go-too" guy in time of need.
7. Take your vacation. Seems simple but too many people don't even take
the vacation they have earned and deserve.
8. Dream BIG! Let others have the tiny dreams and limp through life. As
the saying goes: Go BIG or go home!
C'mon my friends, lets you and I REALLY LIVE from here on out. Let's
commit to making a big difference in the lives of those around us.
And in the end, even though you will have to check out eventually, you
will look back on your life and say, "Boy, I really did this life
right!"
