An amazing thing has happened the last few
months that I wanted to share with you. A number of months ago, a
friend of mine, who had already been relatively successful, felt
like she had hit a plateau in her sales career, so I gave her a copy
of my book, the Angel Inside. What has happened since then has been
nothing short of phenomenal! The book so energized her that she
busted through her plateau and even earned a white Mercedes
automobile from her company for her results!
How would you like that to be your bonus at work - a new car!
I even hosted her presentation ceremony at our home and we had 106
people over! The fact is that she read the Angel Inside nearly ten
times in the last few months and credits it with being a major
factor in her success! She has referred so many people to the book -
and many of them after reading the book have come back and ordered,
25, 35, 50 copies or more to hand out.
I spoke at an event for her to 118 people and we sold 140 copies of
the book. One woman recently purchased 100 copies and gave them out
this past weekend. I have to say I feel a little uncomfortable
tooting my own horn, but it is obvious this little book has a
special way of reaching people, challenging them and encouraging
them at the same time.
This past weekend our friend was at a conference with 700 people in
Green Bay, Wisconsin and was asked to talk about her success. She
very graciously - and enthusiastically - endorsed my book again. The
promoters were overwhelmed by people asking where they could get the
book, so they asked my friend to come back up and tell everyone how
they could get The Angel Inside.
As a subscriber you notice that I make products available on a
regular basis, but rarely do I say to you, "You have to come and buy
this!!" Today, however, I am doing just that. I have received way
too many testimonials from people who have read the book and written
to me how it has transformed their life to not strongly encourage
you to get The Angel Inside, TODAY (one reader even took the book to
Florence, the story's setting, and read it as she looked at the
statue of the David - a major element in the book)! I guarantee that
you will love the book. I'll even bet that after reading The Angel
Inside, you will have friends and relatives you will want to buy the
book for (I know this because it happens all the time).
You know that part of personal growth is putting good stuff into
your mind. Let the next book you buy be, The Angel Inside.
Below is a very special offer on single and quantity purchases of
this book (plus hardback and paperback versions). Plus when you
order in quantities of 25 books or more Chris will give you a free
15 minute coaching consultation. In quantities of 100 or more you
will receive a free 45 minute coaching consultation.

Winning: Defining It, Achieving It by Chris Widener
If you ask most people whether they would like to be considered a winner
or a loser in life, they would most assuredly reply that they would like
to be a winner. But this begs the question, "What does it mean to win at
life?" In some things it's easy to define a clear winner. In a
basketball game, whoever has the most points at the end of the game is
the winner. In a game of hearts, my favorite card game, whoever has the
least amount of points when one of the players reaches 100 points is the
winner.
But it isn't quite as easy to decide what it means to win in the game of
life, is it? And that is because people define winning in different
ways. For many, winning is through the accumulation of money or material
possessions. "He's a success, a real winner," they say. Others think
winning means living the longest. Still others say that it is to have
their body in tip-top shape. Some say it is to have a happy family. Some
say it is to regularly enjoy their hobbies.
All of these are fine, in and of themselves. But...
I would like to encourage us to think about winning or success in a
different way. Generally, people think of winning as the
over-achievement in a particular, chosen area. I like to believe,
however, that to truly win at life is not to overachieve in one area but
to succeed in maintaining balanced achievement in numerous areas.
Let me repeat that: To truly win, to be a success, is not to overachieve
in one area, but to maintain balanced achievement in all areas of our
lives.
For instance, is a person a success if they earn millions of dollars
but lose their family? Is a person a success if they garner national
fame but have no friends? Of course not. In fact, they may live the most
pitiful of all lives.
First, Define
So the first thing we must do is define what we will consider "winning
in life." As you ponder this for yourself, I would like to recommend
that you focus in on three overarching areas: Body, Soul, and Spirit.
The body is that which has actual connection with the physical world and
would encompass physical health, financial health, family, work, and
relationships. How is your health? How are your finances? Are your
relationships, both with your family and others all that they could be?
Is work fulfilling? How would you define winning in these areas?
The next area, the soul, is that which deals with the emotions, will,
and intellect. It is our thoughts, ideas, and attitudes. How are you
emotionally? Are you able to exercise your will? Are you growing
intellectually? Have you done an attitude check lately? How would you
define winning in these areas?
And the spirit is the part of us that transcends this life, the part of
us that communes with God. Zig Ziglar said, "Money will buy me a house,
but not a home, a bed, but not a good night's sleep." So true. Inner
peace comes from something much deeper. Have you thought about going
back to your spiritual roots? Are you able to spend time in quiet,
solitude, and prayer from time to time? This is an extremely important
area and all too often neglected. What would you like to achieve in this
area? How would you define winning in these areas?
As we experience balance in these areas, we will find ourselves much
more at peace with ourselves than if we were to experience tremendous
success in one area but loss or failure in the other areas. We were
designed to work as congruent, balanced people. This is how we get to
the end of our lives and say, "I won."
Second, Prioritize
Once you have defined what it is that you would like to achieve in each
of these areas, you have to prioritize them, and let other,
non-important areas drop off the chart. Commit to developing a plan to
succeed in a balance of areas. Exercise your will. Choose. Dwight D.
Eisenhower said, "The history of free men is written not by chance, but
by choice - their choice."
When we manage our time and schedule, we are simply making choices in
regard to our priorities. For most, their priority is to take action on
whatever is screaming the loudest at the moment. For those who become
winners, they reflect on what they desire to achieve, make a plan and
decide to eliminate the rest.
Last, Do it
Okay, you have defined winning. You have prioritized your life. Now, the
hard part: Doing it. This is where we are all alone. We all make this
step on our own, but having a written plan is as good a preparation as
you can get. Rather than saying that you are going to do this for the
rest of your life, take the next week to implement your new balance of
winning. If a week sounds too long, just focus on today. Spend some
time, be it ever so small, enhancing your life in these areas. Exercise
a little. Read for a while to challenge your mind. Deal with your
emotions. Spend time in silent contemplation to renew your spirit. Give
some time to your spouse and children. Will Rogers said, "Even if you're
on the right track, you won't get anywhere if you're standing still."
There has got to be action.
As we do this over time, and balance our lives out, we will begin to
finally feel like we are winning at life. That will be exciting, as will
the process!

2. Made for Success Quote and Commentary
"If you don't know where you are going, how can you expect to get
there?" -- Basil S. Walsh
Chris' Commentary:
If you want to get somewhere, you have to know your destination. If you
don’t have a destination, you will wander around in the "wilderness",
going nowhere and accomplishing nothing. If you aim at nothing your
ammunition will go nowhere and end up lying on the ground - spent. The
fact is, if you are going to achieve success in this life you must first
define it for yourself and then aim for it. Only then can you diligently
pursue it.
Action Point: Do you know where you are going? Have you specified your
final destination? Take some time today to put your dreams down on
paper, and then act upon them!
3. The Last Word...
This week I'd like to share a little something I call, "The
Inspiration Factor". The first thing that an aspiring leader must
realize is that they must be inspiring! That is, they must be capable
of, and willing to inspire people on to greater things than if the
leader were not in their lives.
So, is this too grandiose an ideal for the average local business owner?
Absolutely not. The people who work at your business, school or
organization need to be inspired by you on a regular basis. It is what
keeps them from giving up.
Remind them of the big picture:
They aren't just serving food, they are helping families spend time
together, so make it enjoyable.
They aren't just changing oil, they are helping make sure a woman and
her children don't break down on the side of the road at night.
They aren't just teaching reading, they are helping open a mind to the
mysteries of the world.
They aren't just selling gifts, they are helping people show their
appreciation to others in a tangible way.
This week: INSPIRE! -- CW

5. Customer Feedback
Here are some of the testimonials and
comments we received over the past week from our Ezine subscribers. We
love receiving comments and feedback from our readers - so keep it
coming!
Good Morning Chris, I was at the last Jim Rohn event held in California
in 2004. That is when I officially met you. Let me introduce myself. I
have the privilege of coaching with JRI. The reason for me sending this
email is to thank you for writing "The Angel Inside." This is a book the
touched my heart and soul. This past year I visited Italy and had the
privilege of seeing the statue of David. What an incredible time. I took
your book with me and kept it close as I heard first hand the story of
David coming from the Marble. I saw the many pieces Michel Angelo
birthed, both finished and not. Have you ever been there? If not you
must go. :) It was truly incredible. This is a book EVERYONE needs to
read. Thank you for touching my heart and life with this story. God used
this book in my life in numerous ways. Thank you, Thank you, Thank
you..... This is a book I would like to share with my friends, clients,
and at speaking engagements across the United States. Several months
ago, through an email from JRI, I was offered to purchase the books at a
discounted rate, is this still possible???? If so I would love to help
spread the word about this totally heart touching book. Is this
possible? Thank you Chris. I remember seeing you on stage for the first
time thinking such wisdom at such a young age. I was touched and
impressed. Thank you for imparting your heart to us. You are a very
special young man and I know God will continue to bless you.

Chris, over the past couple of days I've been listening to the 2001
Weekend. I wasn't at that event but was at 04 Anaheim Weekend. The part
of the moderator you performed was so much better than that of the
person who emceed the 2001 Event. Maybe it's because I met and talked
with you and have watched the 04 Weekend on DVD. I don't know... but you
made that weekend special for me and the group from Baton Rouge. It's
the one year anniversary now since 04 Weekend and we've been going over
our success since then. Lord Bless.

Hi Chris: My name is Sirilak. I do not remember how long I have been
reading your article, but I remember previous Made For Success articles
you sent out to online subscribe readers like me. I really want to thank
you how much you inspire readers and ignite the power within. I want to
share my story (before I move on please understand I have no intention
to promote my work at all) I was born Thai, got married and moved to
Canada. I used to work with couple international companies as an
administrative assistant. When I came to Canada, no one offered the job
I wanted so I applied for a job at a German restaurant as a dish washer
and a kitchen person. I worked at the restaurant for 2 months and my
arms were painful and eventually quit the job. Recovery of my joint
problem took me 3 months. I was unemployed, stressful of financial
problems. I got your articles through online subscription, to be honest,
I didn't think correctly at that time, but I liked the quote for success
you sent out. I kept some of the articles I liked in my folder and read
them from time to time. One day I read about "Great Day Every Day" that
was when I learned that I could make a difference in my life. You are
right, better attitude makes a better life. I kept talking to myself "I
am Made For Success." I started looking for new job through employment
agents. There was only one employment agent that tried to get me to work
in office environment. The employment agent that hired me sent me out to
work with several offices; these offices hired me just a day or two
(maximum 3 days) and turned me down because of my English with Thai
accent. The employment agent did not send me out to work in an office
environment there after. I quit working with the employment agent and
looked for a new job again. Just before Christmas in 2003 I got a job as
a retail clerk in a shopping mall. This is another international company
that the name is well known around the world. I found that nobody cares
about my accent with this company. I had lot of fun working during
Christmas time. The company had to lay off the seasonal workers, and I
am one of them. I thought that I did not mind to get laid off because I
had a good time working with people with this company. I also thought
that the "Great Day" is waiting for me again. Well, the great I thought
of was just the day the store manager told me I was hired as a permanent
employee. I was so happy and delighted. It was the true great day. I
kept working with the company for a year. Christmas 2004 I got a good
news from a college I applied to go for further study. I quit the job at
the retail store early this year and I went home to visit my family in
Thailand. My husband encourages me, I will always find a good job again.
I got back to Canada and started looking for a new job meanwhile I was
collecting my writing. I told my husband I would write a book. While
working on my book, there were some obstacles and difficulties, but my
husband told me "just few more weeks and not to give up." (This similar
concept indicates in one of your article Take A Turn at Tenacious" My
book was assigned the ISBN by the Library and Archive Canada. Today I
have already finished my writing and my husband hires a professional
editor to view my book. My husband and I are working on the
self-publishing process and we know that our Great Day is waiting for
us. Just one book that is sold can count as another success. (Soon this
will happen to me) This is just part of my success that is inspired by
your article "Great Day Every Day" Again, I would like to thank you for
sending an online course of success. I strongly believe that there will
be much more success waiting for you, for me and everyone if they really
take your article into daily practice. It works for me, thank you. I
have to go now because my great day is waiting. You make people become
successful and I would like to say, May the success be with you
-- Siri
Thank you Ezine readers, for the sincere and kind words of encouragement
and appreciation you've sent us! -- CW
