I have seen David and knew how Michelangelo visualized the figure inside the stone. I recently read The Angel Inside and was moved to tears by this OUTSTANDING short story. It is a simple tale, wonderfully articulating how to discover the masterpiece which is inside each of us. It uses the metaphor of Michelangelo's statue of David to portray the secret treasure that can be envisioned by the eye of the beholder. The story is so compelling I couldn't put it down until I finished reading it, and then I began to read it again because I wanted to make sure I captured even more of it's incredible message. As soon as I finished it the second time I passed it on to my cousin because I was hoping he would see his inner splendor through reading this treasure. I read your book, The Angel Inside, and wished that I could have read a book like it early in my life. What an advantage it would have given me. I decided at that time that I would require my son, who had just turned sixteen, read it before I would buy him a car. He rejected the idea until he realized I was dead serious. My son is a great kid. He is smart, but has never done well in school, so he looked at it as an unreasonable demand rather than an easy challenge with a big reward. He would have opted for a root canal, if I had given him a choice. At this time in his life (11th Grade), many of his friends are talking about college, and reps are visiting his school. I sensed that he was getting a little depressed about the whole thing. Although he would not admit it, I worried that he was feeling left out and not very good about himself.

What a difference reading your book has made. I see a renewed confidence within him. He is working harder and doing better in school. He received a quarter grade of 98 in geometry! He is talking about his talents and the classes he likes at school. He has even gone to his counselor and discussed career choices that would make use of his talents. Wow!

Chris, no matter how encouraging a parent tries to be, it doesn't mean very much to a sixteen year old. Thanks to you for getting the point across and giving my son a real sense of his true self worth. And for your information, we're now shopping for a Ford F150.

I was intrigued by this book the moment I heard about it. A friend had just shared about a thirty-something son who was having trouble finding himself, and that sparked my interest in reading the book quickly so that I might recommend it to her. What I particularly like about The Angel Inside is that it teaches basic concepts with imagination. The same things can easily be said to me in a prosaic, power point kind of presentation. But I appreciated that the main character was open, teachable, and humble and that the teacher in the book was encouraging and caring as he presented the important life lessons that would set the young man onto the right track.

It was possible to do my own examination while reading, which led to the transforming of my thinking concerning several experiences in my life. I appreciate this book and hope that it will have an expanded readership.

I read The Angel Inside and found it excellent! I read a lot of personal development but sometimes find the stories can be too simple as to go over the heads of readers. Not so with this book! A very clever story which leads the reader to acknowledge for themselves that there is a better "me" inside me trying to get out. We only have to "chip away" at our raw states in order to become the person we want to become.

I have no doubt that both the angel inside and Chris Widener will go on to sell a shed load of stuff! Catch him while you can because I know how well he is respected by the leaders of our network! And therefore his influence, written or spoken, will be sought out again!

Chris' story The Angel Inside weaves in and out of the life of a young man, Tom, (doubting Thomas), who through a chance meeting with an old man (imagined or otherwise) helps him find his purpose, his goals, why he's here, and how he can get where he wants to be...Tom must look inside himself and find what he's been looking for his whole life. I found this book one of the most inspiring I have read in recent years. Whilst being an entertaining read it put me in touch with myself; helped me focus on my aims and ambitions and the abilities I have inside that I wasn't fully recognizing. Since reading the book, I have set out new goals with realistic time frames and am working towards them at a steady pace. Chris, I just returned home from Breakthroughs II in San Francisco. Thanks for sharing all that you did. During my layover in Vancouver, and then on my way home to Winnipeg, I read both of your books, The Angel Inside and Twelve Pillars – I couldn’t put them down. All I can say is WOW!
